Went to the recently opened !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! in Jessup MD yesterday, and it was a blast. Definitely a step up from the 2-stroke fast karts I've race with before. More instant power delivery and no obnoxious fumes, but still 20HP. They also have differentials, a reverse if you spin, and a pit speed limiter. Cool!

The facility has two tracks, which both provides some variety and helps move more drivers through faster. Our three sessions only took an hour and a half including sign in, would have been shorter but a girl flipped her kart on the wall and slowed things down.

Did three sessions with some coworkers (including my boss) and set fast time in each of them. Set 69th fastest time of the week in my only session on the faster track. Definitely planning to go back, and hopefully join one of the leagues when I get the spare time and cash. Anyone in the area been there?

What time did you go? Last time I went they were booked up for the races. What was the line like?

Thursday evening, about 5:30 to start. Too advantage of 3 for 2 pricing. Only had about one other session on track between ours each time, last two being back to back changing tracks. The Le Mans track was busy so we did it last. Overall, not too bad.

- Looks at map -

Jessup is 8.5 hours non-stop driving from here. Sounds like a ton of fun, I won't be going.

- Starts Googling furiously for an electric kart track nearby... -

All of my local electric kart tracks suck because it's a bunch of people that don't know what they're doing and they crash and the operators turn on a speed limiter. Frustrating waste of time (and massive amounts of money!)

Felt like I was hitting a top speed limiter of some sort (they're calibrated), but plenty sufficient. That's part of why I want to run a league.

Only had one truly awful driver on track, a full 10s slower than us on a 22s laptime.

That sounds pretty fun then. 20hp karts must be a blast, even with the added weight.

A bit more wheel chatter, but still a blast.

Good to know - I really want to get up there and check it out. I've been "racing" at the Crofton kart track.

If you were at Crofton, you'll never go back. Cheaper, faster, more competitive. Seriously, Crofton is so slow you don't even need helmets?

I've been once so far. . . the karts were plenty capable and the tracks were fun... but I think they're too narrow and nearly impossible to pass if someone doesn't pay attention to the flag designations, which happened to me on both tracks.

Yeah, they do feel really narrow. I'm not sure if it's really any narrower than any other kart track I've been on, just not many passing zones.Possible, as long as you're willing to be a bit aggressive.
